A Journey of Volleyball and Community in Bali

This June, Let’s Keep The Ball Flying (LKTBF) returned to Indonesia with a mission close to our hearts: to spread the love of volleyball and make a tangible difference in local communities. Our journey through Bali was marked by stunning landscapes, heartfelt interactions, and a profound sense of connection fostered through the beautiful game of volleyball.

Led by Lesley de Jonge and joined by Ambassador Ci Michel along with talented Italian players Viola Tonello, Cristina Fiorio, and Martina Fiorio, our team was committed to donating gear and volleyballs to three local communities in Bali while sharing the joy and spirit of the sport.

Gili Air: A First-Time Visit

Our first stop was the picturesque island of Gili Air, where we experienced the warmth and excitement of the local community for the first time. Thanks to the generosity of a Swiss volleyball enthusiast, we stayed in a beautiful villa and invited the local school for a fun and engaging volleyball session.

The joy on the children’s faces as they received new gear and volleyballs was a powerful reminder of the impact of our mission. Seeing international volleyball players like Viola, Cristina, and Martina stepping up to donate gear from their Italian clubs Futura Volley and Millenium Brescia added an extra layer of inspiration to the event.

Sidemen: A Heartfelt Reunion

Next, we returned to Sidemen, a place that has become close to our hearts over the years. This marked our third visit to support local player Putu and his community. Ambassadors Malina Terrell, Kimberly Drewniok, and Phoebe Bell have previously visited Sidemen, providing gear and coaching sessions.

Witnessing the progress and passion of Putu and the local players was incredibly inspiring. The community’s growth and dedication underscore the transformative power of sustained engagement and support.

Munduk Mountains: A Vibrant Return

Our final stop was in the scenic Munduk mountains, where we hosted a vibrant volleyball session with the kids from the community. This was our second visit to Munduk, and this time, we ran a full coaching session followed by a community match.

The energy was electric, especially with a massive local volleyball tournament happening later that evening. The spirit of volleyball in Munduk is truly special, and it was an honor to contribute to their ongoing enthusiasm and development.

Throughout our journey, we were reminded of the profound connections that volleyball can foster. From the generous donations of gear to the heartfelt coaching sessions, every moment was filled with joy, learning, and a shared love for the sport. These experiences reaffirm our commitment to spreading the positive impact of volleyball across the globe.

We invite you to join us on our next journey to Bali. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of giving back while creating unforgettable memories and making a real difference in the lives of local communities through volleyball.
